Sometime recently this crazy idea crept into my head. Back in my XIth-std I was made to read some book about brain waves and their frequencies and what different frequencies of brain wave denote, physiologically. Never ever read further than the first few pages, after which either I would fall asleep or I wished to kill myself.
Apparently, according to literary/scientific genius, the brain emits waves depending upon the kind of physical state of awareness a human is in. I vaguely remember reading about Alpha, Gamma, and other states.. Alpha, probably being when we are wide awake and our brain is engaged in thinking/deducing/etc… you get the drift.. you don’t? never mind.. I don’t either.
So my question is… is it possible to actually monitor the brain-wave-state to..lets say, warn the driver of an impending crash/accident or any similar hazardous situation? Normally, such thought process happens when I am in the zone…
Many such ingenious ideas spring up in my mind and I just marvel at what all technology can do and there ends the epiphany… of course with a heavy, albeit content, sigh.
Thanks to Google Reader, I recently stumbled upon this concept by Toyota, wherein the car actually “watches” the driver’s eyelids to see whether he is falling asleep or not.. Read about it here
You should read “Blink” by Malcolm Gladwell. Apparently, we always “know” what’s coming. Some people call it instinct. Gladwell calls it our subconscious intelligence. Anyways its worth a read.
hmm…sounds interesting. will check it out..
