My TV probably blew out last evening after this monster lightning-thunder blow, which sounded like artillery strike right outside my apartment. My apartment literally reverberated for a few seconds. I was watching Deep Impact on TV and was juggling cooking and laundry at the same time. After the first load of laundry, I entered the house and was watching over the stove, and that’s when the mother of all thunders I’ve heard so far struck, and my TV went blank. I tried switching it on after an hour or so…nothing… popped in a DVD to see if atleast the video input picks up… no…
The only thing that came to my mind immediately was… Crap! I can’t watch my Netflix movies anymore, other than switching on my computer and blah blah blah… No more Discovery, My Boys, Family Guy…. **gasp**

OSI TV KE INTHA EFFECTA…
ENNAI KODUMAI ZEP ITHU
I dont thin the surge protector will protect against lightening strikes. If there was a voltage spike it will be protected. mavane, overa idi adicha, TV off pannu!
sb – dei, lighting strikes protection kadayadhu, correct dhan…. but anniki i was in and out doing laundry… so couldnt switch off the TV in time..
sb, arun, i still think surge protector will protect your equipment from indirect lightning strikes … very few times you will have direct lightning strikes (10 %).. no protection for direct hits … but at least it will protect you the rest of the 90 % ..
i read about surge protectors before buying one myself sometime back.
